The 427 AC Cobra is one of my all time favorites. There are a few cars I admire but my speakers must be ALTEC and nothing else will do.
Sorry for the O.T., but when I was a kid in North Dakota on a Schwinn Stingray bike, the local gas station owned and parked one of the only six in existance Shelby Daytona Coupes at their lot right down the street from me in the late '60's. I would ride over there and stare for hours.

The Daytona coupe is one of the nicest looking cars ever made. And the beauty was 100% functional.
Sheer economics, Ford paid Shelby to do the GT40, which sapped all the manpower from the Daytona. One still has to wonder what if they had bankrolled the Daytona instead.
Politics was part of it, the GT40 was sourced more in the US.
FWIW Shelby is building new Daytonas. If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

OG, I have never been passed in the mountains, and once while cruising back down the mountain from Mt. Palermo, I ran into Road and Track Mag. heading up the mountain with a gaggle of cars from 1986. Porsche 928, Corvette C4, Ferrari 328... I did a broody, caught up to them, and passed a couple of them before they pulled over for a photo session. We talked for a while, they took pictures of my car, but never published them. I could have kicked all of their buts since I had them all beat by 1000 pounds.
